According to Hannah Montana, “Life’s what you make it so let’s make it rock.”
You decide what happens to you and how you react to situations not anyone else. Whatever happens in your life 95% of the time is as a result of your choices – your decisions and your decisions are always based on how you view life.
When the stakes are down, in the words of Mark Twain, “Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.” We all know the story of the glass of water – the optimist sees it half full and the pessimist sees it half empty. So given the same ‘glass of water’, we can view it from two different angles.
W. Mitchell para phrased: “Its not what happens to you in life that matters, its what you do about it” so not to sound cliche but when life gives you lemons, make some lemonade.
To succeed in life you need to be proactive and take responsibility for your life. Stop playing the victim role all the time because being a victim means you react to situations around you and not create situations for your advancement in life. I read in a book that there are only a few things you can control ~ yourself, your attitude, your choices and your responses!!! Just four things but these can make all the difference in the world. Elaine Maxwell has rightly said that “Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man’s doing but my own. I am the force.”
In other words, don’t be a spectator in life. Look for situations you need and if you can’t find them, create them. Don’t let things ‘happen’ to you. Go out and ‘happen’ to things! Sometimes while you’re so busy being either the pessimist, the optimist or the realist, the opportunist grabs what’s in front of you all and moves on.
One last thing – A friend recently brought this to my attention: Psalm 23:5 “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies ….” not the verse but his interpretation of the verse. He believes that from this statement, he needs his enemies for God to promote him. That’s just to say that his enemies are not there to bring him down but because they are there, its an ‘excuse’ for God to send him extra blessings. That’s what I’d call positive thinking.
In conclusion my dear friends, “DO NOT BE A PESSIMIST IN LIFE BUT ADOPT A CAN-DO ATTITUDE AND BE A REALISTIC OPTIMIST!!!
