Love and Sex God’s way

Love is giving the other person what they need the most when they deserve it the least.

Hollywood love vs True love
~ Hollywood love requires finding the right person, true love involves becoming the right person
~ Hollywood love says we fall in love, true love comes with walking in love
~ Hollywood love is fixed on the other person, focusing all hopes and dreams on that person, true love is focusing all on God and letting Him take control of your relationship.

We often mistake true love for what we see in the movies. In the real world, hollywood love doesn’t last and it causes more ‘heartbreak’ and hurt than necessary. It is mostly physical focusing on what you can get from the other person which in most cases is SEX! One mistake we generally make in life is confusing love and sex. In the words of Chip Ingram:
‘When we fail to understand the difference between love and sex, we are doomed to failure in both our RELATIONSHIPS and our SEXUALITY

We have to first understand the difference between love and sex. Love is NOT sex. First of all, understand that sex in itself is not a bad thing after all God created it but He made it for two people to enjoy under the sacred institution of marriage.
Building relationships should start from God and you and the person. You should build a spiritual relationship first with agape love which is the unconditional love of Christ.
Secondly, you grow to become friends – this is where phileo comes in. Friendship love where there are no strings attached.
Finally, after starting the relationship on solid agape and building it on phileo, eros is allowed to come in. God created intimacy for man and his wife so He wants us to enjoy it.
I’d leave us with this:
‘To enjoy a gift to the fullest, we have to abide by the manufacturer’s instructions’. In other words, follow God’s plan for you for building a healthy, solid and lasting relationship.
