Certain events have made me realise that yes we trust in God but most of us don’t fully acknowledge the magnificence of His power. I have made a decision to let God take over even when it seems like a solution is impossible …. And I’m hoping to live out the words of this song:
Sometimes we think we’ve done well
And sometimes we know we could have done better
But still at the end of the day, you can’t tell
You have to leave it to God to take care of the latter
Learn to let go and let God take over
And be sure you’re settled and its forever
So in all you do trust in the Lord
Lean not on your own understanding
Surrender your all to Him
Consciously sacrifice the self in you
Let Him increase, while you decrease
And He will give you a brand new life
Yes, you will be sold out to Him
That’s my little song … Let go and let God!!!
We’ve all heard ‘You never know the value of what you have until you lose it’. Well its true to an extent but for the past few weeks I’ve realised that
‘When you know the value of what you have, it makes losing it harder’.
What I’m saying in essence is that appreciate people, things and opportunities around you at every chance you get because you don’t know exactly how long they’ll be around for.
Have a great week people!!!
“‘NOT ACCEPTED’ does not translate to ‘REJECTED'”
– Rev Mike Addai
The fact that someone does not choose you for a position or something you really want is given to someone else over you, doesn’t mean that you are worthless or of no use at all in that situation. It just means that that isn’t your field at the moment.
Have a great week!!!
Just found something I wrote about 3 years ago.
Sometimes we may feel like the bible is written in a whole other time. Well, maybe it is but God who knows all inspired the words in such a way that we can relate these passages to our everyday lives.
As a shepherd David wrote Psalm 23 describing his relationship with God with the terms he was familiar with. This is my Psalm 23:
I am the Lord’s student
I shall not want
He makes me learn all the formulae I need
He guides me through every subject
He makes me understand
He teaches me the correct way to solve problems
No matter how complex
Yea though I walk through the complications of Physics
I shall fear no failure
For He has taught me
My praise and my prayers go unto Him
He throws me A’s in the presence of my peers
My joy runs over
Surely wisdom, knowledge and understanding shall follow me
All the days of my life
And I shall dwell in God’s presence
I guess I never fully completed it but it seems pretty complete to me now. God is many things to one person and one thing to many people. We usually describe our relationships in terms we’re familiar with like David describing the Lord as his shepherd because he understood the shepherd-sheep relationship. So if you’re a student or a laborer, build a personal relationship with God – He wants to be your teacher, your father, your Master, your friend.
Enjoy the rest of the week!!!
Yes I said it – Provoke God!
Provoke God to bless you!!
That’s the only way you can get away with ‘provoking’ God!!!
All my life, I’ve known one basic fact … DO NOT TEST GOD! Yet Gideon tested him and practically got away with it. I guess I just believe that Gideon was an exceptional case. But God does like to be reminded of His word. It provokes Him to fulfil His word. Check out the Israelites in the desert … In verse 13-19, Moses reminded God of what He had done for the Israelites ,how great His power is and how the ‘other nations’ revere Him. Then He worshipped Him and yet again reminded Him of His word … Result? God changed His mind. Yes! He actually did change His mind. But note that God still punished the Israelites for their faithlessness but He kept His promise and fulfilled His word. That’s all that matters
In light of this, we should realise two major things … God always fulfils His word. Provoke Him to bless you by declaring His word and claiming His promises in your situations … He is sure to bless you. But before you can declare the word, you have to know the word. We need to meditate on the word day and night and store it in our hearts. We need to learn how to apply the word to basic everyday situations so that when we want to recall it, as practical as it has become, it is easy. Secondly, there is a consequence for every action … If you do well, you are blessed. Do badly, you are cursed. It’s the law of action and reaction but the beautiful thing about being a Christian is the mercy of God. We can always go back after repentance and ask for forgiveness. And we all know that His grace is sufficient but do not abuse this privilege. Look at the Israelites and the number of times they murmured against God yet God in His infinite mercy kept forgiving them. Even in the Numbers passage, he forgave them but here, He still gave them the punishment they deserved to remind them that He alone is God and because He loved them, He did not want them to go astray.
Basically, meditate on God’s word and apply it to EVERYDAY life so that when you need something or you just want to bless the name of the Lord, you can provoke His blessings upon yourself as well.
