As easy as A-B-C-D …

*singing*
Everything na double double …

Its not impossible but its rare for two sets of identical twins to be delivered in one day by the same person. Tressa Montalvo, 36, defied the odds of one in 70 million to have her four sons, who were born on Valentine’s Day, and were originally believed to be quadruplets. She and her husband, 43 year old Manuel were hoping for a sibling for their son, Memphis who’s two and a half and according to the release, Tressa said:

“We planned the pregnancy – I guess we just succeeded a little too much.”

Perfect way to describe it! Too much success. This couple has taught me something though – You make up your mind to do something, you’ll be surprised at how far you’ll go. Just try – They didn’t stress themselves and were not overanxious about anything. They didn’t even use fertility drugs!!!

Another thing I got out of this is that when life throws you surprises – appreciate them. They all form experiences that make you better so they are gifts in their own right. How you react to situations is what makes or breaks you. Here’s an excerpt:

When Montalvo was 10 weeks pregnant, her physician told her she was having twins, and on a subsequent visit, the doctor detected a third heartbeat.  They were then referred to specialist, Dr Brian Kirshon, who found a fourth heartbeat.

‘We didn’t expect it, we were trying for just one and we were blessed with four.’

They chose to see it as a blessing not a burden – I mean c’mon – four more boys!!! 🙂 Lastly, they want a girl – they have a goal! They have made up their minds to keep trying for a girl (I’m not saying you should be borning pikin if you cannot take care of them o! Berra mind what you’re doing and be wise too :D). Life may seem crazy at times but if you are anxious about too much you can’t see the big picture.

Its like those houses we drew when we were in Nursery school with the triangle roofs, square body, square windows and rectangular doors. Looking too close, you may get confused wondering what you’d do with a triangle but taking a step back, you see the big picture and there’s a lot you can do with a house!

Sometimes its as easy as just stepping back and watching the miracles unfold – As easy as A-B-C-D – Ace, Blaine, Cash and Dylan Montalvo!!!

My mama – My love

It’s my mummy’s birthday next week! I wrote this little piece as a birthday gift 🙂 Hope you like it mummy and I love you. :)Enjoy everyone plus you can leave some birthday love in the comments section 😉

Iya ni wura iye biye ti a ko le fowo ra (Yoruba)

Ma mere est un bijoux inestimable que je ne peux pas achete (French)

My mother is a priceless jewel that cannot  be bought (English duh!!!)

Mi madre es una joyas de incalculable valor que no puede comprar (Spanish)

meine Mutter ist eine unbezahlbare Juwel ich nicht kaufen kann (German)

Whatever language it is, the value of my mother cannot be expressed. She nurtured me even before I was born and loved me from the moment she found out I existed. I’ll always be my mummy’s baby – that I know.

Typically, we’ve had our fights, our conspiracies (good times!!!) and our plain ol’ playful moments but the scariest times are THE TALKS! Lol … If you’re a girl you probably know what I mean. My mum’s looking out for me no matter what. When I hurt, she hurts and when I succeed, there’s no one happier than she is – not even me!

Mummy I love you, always have, always will! Anytime I say I’m fine and you feel like I’m not (and you threaten to report me to daddy :)), its just ‘cos I don’t want you to feel bad too. You always protect me and I’m old enough to want to protect you too.

Remember that Super Mom t-shirt I got you a few years back, well … I meant it! I dont know how you do what you do but I know God made you specially for me (and T and D :p). Superheroes are fictional characters; sometimes they age and someone else has to play their character so you’re not my superhero but when you feel down, remember that I’m your number 1 fan and smile.

Happy Birthday Mummy. You’re my MOST FAVOURITESTEST mummy ever!!!

Confessions of a Chocoholic

Hi everyone, I’m Shay and I’m a chocoholic. (I tried Chocaholic ‘cos it sounded better but ‘grammar’ didn’t allow it so here we are :)). As today’s National Chocolate Day, I naturally assumed I’d be getting a lot of choco love. No such luck 😦 I didn’t have a valentine today too … (Shout out to all the single ladies X_X). Anyway back to my chocolamentations 🙂

I’ve been chocolate deprived for too long. I think that’s part of why I have been thinking too much and woke up with a nasty headache this morning. Symptoms of withdrawal I guess. Yes, I have tried – I haven’t had any chocolate this February except chocolate cake and my last one was a few days ago so it’s a big step plus a certain someone who I shall not mention has been tormenting me unknowingly with images of choco things – truffles, cakes and everything sweet. I saw a quote that goes something like this:
‘If there’s no chocolate in heaven, then I don’t want to go there’.
Well, I’m chocopassionate but I won’t trade nada for heaven – which brings me to another item on our agenda – What are you passionate about? It eventually directs your life and ultimately your destiny. You should know though that your passion is 20% what you feed your mind. Imagine your passion like a burning fire – you feed it kerosene or you feed it trash – that determines how much it’ll burn or if it’ll burn at all!

Back to my choco craving confessions.
Pause!
I think my rambling is another sign of this supposed withdrawal.
If y’all don’t like me this way, just gimme the chocolate already!!!

Hehehe!!! 🙂 😀 🙂 😀 🙂

Nana Daudu

So as I was typing this, I took a short 3 minute break because I was getting too emotional due to my chococraze going into overdrive and guess what I saw? My number 1 tormentor had  an awesome, mouth watering chocolate cake as her dp. Yup the one above! I hadta cry in protest – Virtually of course!!! :p

And here was her reply:

‘My dear it’s a fruitless endeavour. God made chocolate for women. It’s an instinctive need. Just take it and move  on. Just the smell of chocolate makes me smile. I don’t even need to eat the cake just smelling it alone makes me smile.’

Following it was this image with the caption ‘Heaven on earth’

So as at the time I’m concluding this which is 01.10pm GMT, I’m in chocolate withdrawal mode but within 12 hours I’ll be back to being a chocojunkie!

Oh by the way, click on the facebook link and like the page … Thanks!!!

Hi everyone. I’m Shay and I’m a Chocoholic 😀

Examination Excellence – DuringEXAM

It’s a little overdue I think but then everything happens for a reason ;). This is part two of Examination Excellence. In case you missed Pre Exam (part 1), just click here!

We know so far the basics concerning what to do before exams. Tips for during exams are kind of hard to outline but I’ve highlighted a few for you guys. Thanks for your responses on part 1 and I hope this helps as well. Enjoy!

1) Sleep well

Yes, Sleep! There’s no point in you getting sick during the exam or dozing in the hall so as much as you may need to sacrifice some hours of sleep, you should sleep a little! It not only relaxes your body but your mind as well.

2) Double check EVERYTHING

Be sure to make sure you have everything you need for the exam the previous day – especially for morning papers. I still advise that you cross check just before you leave for the exam. You may have taken something and forgotten to return it or put something close by so as not to forget but lo and behold … So be extra careful!

3) Revise your notes with enough time to spare

This is particularly tricky. I mean you can’t control time but if you study well before exams, you just need to revise so plan your time to revise that particular course the previous day or the morning before for papers much later in the day. Giving yourself adequate time reduces the pressure placed on you thereby reducing tension and making it easier to assimilate knowledge.

4) Get there on time

My definition of on time in this case is at least 5 minutes before the official time. Give enough time to accommodate delays and ‘unforeseen circumstances’. Once you’re late, it affects your mental game and the time you spend trying to find balance again is time wasted. Just avoid all that and get to your venue on time.

5) Discard your panic button

There is nothing you can do again once its time for the paper whether you’re done reading or not.
There is nothing you can achieve if you freak out about the size of material you have left to cover.

Just don’t panic – It makes things even worse! Try and stay calm at all times. Do your best to cover what you have to. If you can’t, it may be somewhat unfortunate; if you can, how great for you but ultimately panic can cause failure in itself.

Those are five basic rules. Before I forget, pray before you start and after you’re done. I have a few more but you can add to your list by building on these. Personally, (even though I do it sometimes, I’m trying to stop) I don’t like going over the questions to see which ones I got wrong because it’s sort of depressing when you dwell on it. Some tests however, I like to review so I can have knowledge of it for the main exams.
Like I said, it depends on you. Create your own list but these are 5 basic tips.

Happy new month.
Check out our daily tid-bit and have a wonderful month!
