James Patterson’s Step on a Crack was co-written by Michael Ledwidge. The main character Michael Bennett is a whole new character entirely. He is not Alex Cross nor does he bear lots of similarities with the members of the Women’s Murder Club. Patterson has indeed succeeded in creating another engaging character. Michael Bennett is your everyday cop – NYPD and so is very relate-able. We see him juggle his very demanding job with being a father to his 10 kids (all adopted) and his sick wife. The language is pretty simple and straight forward and the whole story keeps you guessing.
It captures your imagination definitely! One thing I love about this book and Patterson novels in general is the display of the brilliance of the human mind. The whole siege was carefully planned and every reaction correctly anticipated. The simplicity of the book makes the story real to you. Its another MUST READ!!!
