All I want for Christmas 5

JOY – Today you guys have me to deal with! 😀
Do I need an intro for myself? Hehehe … Y’all know me (at least to an extent) and love me (I hope 😦 at least a lil’)! And that’s all the intro I’ll do … Enjoy 🙂

———————————————————————————————————————-

You already know I’m talking about JOY! Growing up JOY was defined as Jesus first, Yourself last, Others in between. I was vehemently against this definition – I mean how do you put others first all the time and expect to be happy! That’s the main problem most of us have – What’s the difference between being happy and being joyful?

Happiness is a feeling. You can’t help it. It is determined by the environment and circumstances. Joy on the other hand is there no matter what happens. Joy is a byproduct, an additional benefit, not the end in itself. It is this feeling of contentment despite what life throws at you. It is closely entwined with peace. Like peace of yesterday, you have to be in Christ to experience true joy and in its fullness. It flows into and grows within the person whose life and energies are not focused merely on being joyful!
You don’t chase joy. It is something that you either possess or don’t. If you’re chasing it, then you don’t have it. Joy is not the product of the natural mind but the product of the Holy Spirit. As it is not a product of the natural mind, then looking for it outside the guidance of the Holy Spirit will produce poor counterfeits, if at all any, of what God is and desires to be in us.

Back to my elementary definition. We’ve covered ‘Jesus first’.Joy also involves selflessness. You cannot truly be joyful if you are selfish. One thing I learnt today is that the more you hoard, the worse you stink. Let me explain – A lagoon may stink because it gets water from all sources including gutters that overflow but as it doesn’t give any out, the debris accumulates and it stinks. Be giving and loving and selfless and joy will flow. Ever heard the saying that ‘If you want to feel better about something, help someone.’, paraphrased of course! That covers ‘Others in between‘. Ultimately you have to be in the equation. I mean who’s gonna experience the joy?

This is a lil’ off the top of my head but remember joy’s a decision. You have to choose to remain joyful!

————————————————————————————————————————-

Okay that’s it. You read my thoughts all through so I’ll just summarize all I’ve said:
J – Jesus first
O – Others in between
Y – Yourself last

Have a great week!

All I want for Christmas 2

All I want for Christmas … (Sorry. I had issues posting it online yesterday :()

Hope y’all enjoyed yesterday’s post. If you haven’t read it, click here. Today, we have a guy writing in. He is one person who just amazes me. He’s faithful to whatever he finds himself doing be it little things like carrying chairs or holding a lamp (inside joke :)) Just read and be blessed … Let me introduce you to Claude Ujile!

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

Man is trine in nature. Man possesses a spirit, soul and body. The body and soul finds expression from the spirit. Without the spirit the body and soul cannot function. The spirit man relates and connects the human with God.The soul comprises of the mind, the emotions and the will. The spirit cannot relate to the human being without an approval from the mind. The body is the dwelling place of the spirit and soul. It is the material part of man that relates to the physical world through five(5) senses.

The Son of God (JESUS) came to the world to save us from the slavery of the flesh and to give heaven access to the affairs of man by His Spirit. (Another Christmas reference :)) He died so we can all possess His spirit so that our body and soul will find expression with God without boundaries. It translates us from the kingdom of darkness into His marvelous light. We become new and old things are passed away (history, never to be remembered).

The new man makes us exhibit strange qualities that cannot be fully understood by unbelievers. (Gal 5:22) One of these is faith.

But without faith, it is impossible to please Him for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Faithfulness, in plain terms, is remaining LOYAL and STEADFAST. It hinges upon what we value as important combined with commitment. Humans have a powerful tendency to be faithful to what they think is truly important, be it a family name, spouse, friendship, cause, sports team or even a particular way of life.

LOYAL Implies showing firm and constant support or allegiance; CONSTANT suggests frequent or continuous occurrence  STEADFAST is resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering. FAITHFUL thereby implies steadfast adherence to a person or thing to which one is bound as by an oath or obligation

We must have complete faith if we are to receive anything from God. Humans are generally unreliable and untrustworthy thus we are warned not to place our full trust in them.

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

2Tim 3:1-5

We live in a world in which self-centeredness is being promoted to its greatest extent in human history. Constantly we hear, ‘Indulge yourself because you deserve it.’, ‘Spoil yourself because you work too hard’. I have nothing against you treating yourselves but there is someone out there who needs something so think about them and reach out. God is faithful to bless you!

———————————————————————————————————————————-

I hope we were all blessed by that. Bottom line – Go out and show love. Remember Jesus said He was hungry and thirsty and sick and you didn’t pay Him any attention (paraphrased) so here’s your chance. Someone needs that one (insert currency here) more than you do 🙂

God bless you as you PRACTICE not only read 🙂

All I want for Christmas 1

All I want for Christmas is …

Our first writer is a special woman of God. She doesn’t know this but I’ve admired her since I met her. The fact that she bothered to know me even when I wasn’t directly connected to her went a long way to create an impression in my heart and I thought about it and decided that she is the best person to write on this part of our fruit. I won’t take much of your time … Her name’s Miss Ify Ekeruche and she blogs here. Today she’s serving us up a big bowl of Kindness … Enjoy!!!

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Kindness is based on the loving heart of the one performing the act, not the loving heart of the recipient. God is our model for kindness. The kindest act ever recorded in the bible was God sending His own Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins so that we might live forever in heaven. It doesn’t get any better than that, and He continues to shower us with kindness each day even when we least deserve it. Truth is, it is impossible to exhibit this selfless act unless we are first truly loving.

Kindness is the sign of a loving heart; a quality borne out of a sense of compassion, shown in the way a person speaks and acts. Ordinarily, as human beings we tend to be kind to those who reciprocate or exhibit the potential to reciprocate the act, rather the kindness God models is one that flows out as a result of the Holy Spirit planted in our lives; it really cannot happen any other way.

As believers,, this is the kind of life we have chosen – a spirit-led life and in ensuring that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts; we must consciously work out its implication in every detail of our lives. Choose to be kind. Jesus said

Here is a simple rule of thumb for behaviour: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you; then grab the initiative and do it for them! If you only love the loveable, do you expect a pat on the back? Run-of-the-mill sinners do that. If you only help those who help you, you expect a medal? Garden-variety sinners do that. If you only give for what you hope to get out of it, do you think that’s charity? The stingiest of pawnbrokers does that. I tell you, love your enemies. Help and give without expecting a return. You’ll never – I promise – regret it. Our Father is kind, you be kind.’

Luke 6:31-34,36

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————

And that folks is an excerpt on kindness. If nothing at all, I hope you are going to be kind to these two sets of people in addition to your usual groups:

  • Those that don’t deserve it
  • Those that can’t repay your kindness!

Compliments of the season and catch y’all tomorrow!!!
