Birthday Season Gratitude

Family is one of the best gifts you can ask for! You don’t choose your family, you may not even like them but eventually most people come to tolerate them – I love my family especially during what we like to call ‘Birthday Season’.

You see it starts in November with my dad’s birthday and then early December, my sister’s. Jesus does late December and the first half of birthday season is complete. Then since its a new year and all, we decided to make it a family thing for early January (like we had a choice!) and so my brother features late January. I’m next kicking off early February and my mum closes birthday season late February. Yup, that’s how it goes down here – so today I’m grateful for family, cake, ice cream and everything sweet that comes with birthdays and Christmas.

What are you grateful for this Saturday morning?

Today’s writer was my friend before before (He’d kill me if he saw this :p). We started talking mainly because he’s a reader and he’s the one that initiated me into the British Literature readers!!! I chose him to talk about peace for various reasons but basically because he’s one person that has connected with his inner man. No matter what, he has peace even when he’s not sure what happens next. Before I go on and on, I want to introduce you to a very good friend of mine and an amazing artist Odudu Abasi-Essien,
P.S. You might want to get a dictionary just in case 🙂

Peace that surpasses all understanding. Peace is usually seen as a state of quiet and calm, a realm of sweet tranquility void of unwelcome chaos. That in a sense is true, the only issue with such a definition is the variable factor of environmental change. With it, peace depends on the situation and environment one is positioned. To simplify it, one would say such peace is the absence of war. But on a more realistic, if we were to accept this definition in a world falling apart, we would hardly ever experience it. However we have an infinite reserve of peace we can call on whenever we need it. Jesus said, ‘My peace I give unto you’. Here, we see that peace can be carried with you and its not something controlled by environment.

Jesus is also seen as the Prince of Salem (peace). This means that He is the custodian and governor of peace and He has made it available to you. Peace is carried inside you. Why? Because you have God Almighty inside you, inside your spirit.

Peace is also a fruit of the Holy Spirit. One of the fruit that forms the image or character of Christ. We see how Jesus, in the storm battered boat, slept like a child while His disciples almost tore off their beards. Jesus woke and said sternly, ‘Peace be still’. We can see the power Christ has over peace enough to command it to manifest in a geographical location. This power has been given to us as the power to become sons of God. Sons imitate their fathers. We imitate God.

Therefore peace is the mobile quality of calm, tranquility, assurance and trust in God’s love and ability to deliver. It takes the weights off you and gives you rest.

I sign out with the peace sign 😀 Basically people. peace is a benefit from a decision not a feeling or mood. Make that decision to let Christ live in you and rule your world and you’ve made the decision to allow peace abide.
Bye bye for now 🙂

All I want for Christmas 2

All I want for Christmas … (Sorry. I had issues posting it online yesterday :()

Hope y’all enjoyed yesterday’s post. If you haven’t read it, click here. Today, we have a guy writing in. He is one person who just amazes me. He’s faithful to whatever he finds himself doing be it little things like carrying chairs or holding a lamp (inside joke :)) Just read and be blessed … Let me introduce you to Claude Ujile!

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

Man is trine in nature. Man possesses a spirit, soul and body. The body and soul finds expression from the spirit. Without the spirit the body and soul cannot function. The spirit man relates and connects the human with God.The soul comprises of the mind, the emotions and the will. The spirit cannot relate to the human being without an approval from the mind. The body is the dwelling place of the spirit and soul. It is the material part of man that relates to the physical world through five(5) senses.

The Son of God (JESUS) came to the world to save us from the slavery of the flesh and to give heaven access to the affairs of man by His Spirit. (Another Christmas reference :)) He died so we can all possess His spirit so that our body and soul will find expression with God without boundaries. It translates us from the kingdom of darkness into His marvelous light. We become new and old things are passed away (history, never to be remembered).

The new man makes us exhibit strange qualities that cannot be fully understood by unbelievers. (Gal 5:22) One of these is faith.

But without faith, it is impossible to please Him for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Faithfulness, in plain terms, is remaining LOYAL and STEADFAST. It hinges upon what we value as important combined with commitment. Humans have a powerful tendency to be faithful to what they think is truly important, be it a family name, spouse, friendship, cause, sports team or even a particular way of life.

LOYAL Implies showing firm and constant support or allegiance; CONSTANT suggests frequent or continuous occurrence  STEADFAST is resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering. FAITHFUL thereby implies steadfast adherence to a person or thing to which one is bound as by an oath or obligation

We must have complete faith if we are to receive anything from God. Humans are generally unreliable and untrustworthy thus we are warned not to place our full trust in them.

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

2Tim 3:1-5

We live in a world in which self-centeredness is being promoted to its greatest extent in human history. Constantly we hear, ‘Indulge yourself because you deserve it.’, ‘Spoil yourself because you work too hard’. I have nothing against you treating yourselves but there is someone out there who needs something so think about them and reach out. God is faithful to bless you!

———————————————————————————————————————————-

I hope we were all blessed by that. Bottom line – Go out and show love. Remember Jesus said He was hungry and thirsty and sick and you didn’t pay Him any attention (paraphrased) so here’s your chance. Someone needs that one (insert currency here) more than you do 🙂

God bless you as you PRACTICE not only read 🙂
